I'm not sure exactly why, but this morning's walk/run was the best one in years.
Last night I had some whiskey. Not too much, but enough to get feeling alright. For some reason I sleep "faster" and better when I've had some liquor. I think I sleep deeper, and so get a better rest sooner. Unfortunately, I seem to be allergic to cheap whiskey, so I can't really afford to drink every night.
This morning I had a half liter of good coffee mixed with a half can of the coffee version of one of my favorite energy drinks. Proper caffeination is critical for a successful workout. [Unfortunately, Amazon doesn't list the coffee variant of the energy drink I like. Their prices are also just OK - I often see the price in the store lower than theirs.]
There was also little traffic on the road, and almost no wind. The road was well cleared, and in most places I could get over onto the shoulder if I needed to.
The temperature was finally cool enough for a good workout as well. When I started it was 11 Fahrenheit, a good temperature for outdoor work. I think its crazy that some marathons happen in the summer.
Anyway, Otis was real tired and thirsty by the time we got home. He was eating snow, and wriggling around on the ground to cool off. Not a bad way to start the day!
