My afternoon in Manch

Mon, 03/26/2012 - 21:13 -- webmaster

In the last few weeks, I've been having really bad cramps in my calves that last for days. I initially figured they were mostly a symptom of the stress I've been dealing with. I've noticed that when I'm around people I tense up, and have only been able to relax completely after a good night's sleep in a room where I'm alone.

FSP Co-branded cards

Tue, 03/06/2012 - 11:58 -- webmaster

Back in early 2011 I got the first co-branding order for Shire Silver. When cutting the metal there is always some error, so I cut the pieces slightly larger than the expected weight so that the smallest ones would still be at least that. So the initial estimate for the amount of metal needed was off by some percent, and I was short. Since then I've not only improved my cutting accuracy, but also improved my metal requirements estimates.

Weather and moods

Two days ago I had a gloriously productive day (compared to recent history anyway). I went for a jog, made a great breakfast, and got a lot of work done. But yesterday sucked. It started out OK with another good jog and a nice breakfast, but the rest of the day I was unable to get into gear. Pretty much the entire day was a waste and I was certainly more irritable.

Domes Deal

Fri, 02/17/2012 - 13:28 -- webmaster

When I moved into the domes, I hade a deal with the then owner to sell him much of my stuff for rent payments. I didn't live there long, so when I left there was a balance in my favor. At about the same time the place got sold, and from what I understand the debt owed to me was also transferred to the new owner.

Back Rent - Jack

Wed, 02/15/2012 - 13:50 -- webmaster

Jack was another Porc Manor renter of mine. He had suffered a heart attack and needed some relaxation and reduced stress. We worked out a deal whereby he could pay his rent in hours of work around the house, dollars, or precious metals.

It took Jack a while to get well, and as he did so he started repaying his rent debt, although at a pace that wasn't sufficient to get him out of the hole. The debt currently stands at about 30% less than its high, so he has made some headway and every now and then he makes a small payment.

Back Rent - Ryan

Ryan Marvin was a pretty good activist but he wasn't too good with money. He moved into my Porc Manor and only paid a little rent. After the debt got too big I finally got him to relocate. Unfortunately he then allegedly defrauded and stole from his new roommates, who outed him at PorcFest - leading to his being ostracized and leaving the community.

Back Rent - Chopsy

Wed, 02/15/2012 - 13:37 -- webmaster

Back when I was a landlord, renting out rooms in Little Minnesota, my Porc Manor, I had about 30 renters over the course of 3 years. One of them was Anthony "Chopsy" Bonk. Chopsy was a good guy that needed help but had pretty low self-esteem when it came to getting jobs.

He had a hard time getting work, in part due to living in a place where you really need a car but for most of the time he was there he didn't have one. When he did manage to get a car, it was an expensive lemon that failed him.

Shire Silver Founding Capital

Wed, 02/15/2012 - 13:15 -- webmaster

Shuvom was tremendously helpful in getting Shire Silver off the ground. Not only did he and his wife help manufacture the first large batch of cards in time for PorcFest, but he funded some of the initial capital needs including the laminator.

The $300 listed is a rough number. At this time I haven't gotten the numbers exactly, but this is a good ballpark number.
